Push for Property Tax Relief will Continue

Over 500 Volunteers Will Participate in Election Day Push for Property Tax Cut Phase 2
In this final weekend prior to the January 29th Election Day, FPTR has assembled over 500 volunteers statewide who will be standing in front of key precincts urging voters to sign petitions in support of the 1.35% Initiative.

Grassroots Group to Announce the Collection of Petitions and Statewide Petition Gathering Day
Members of citizen-led organizations Fair Property Tax for All and Floridians for Property Reform will be joined by Representatives Anitere Flores, David Rivera and Julio Robaina to make an announcement about the number of petitions collected for the 1.35% Property Tax Cap Amendment and to discuss plans for a Statewide Petition Gathering Day.

Floridians for Property Tax Reform Endorses Citizen Petition Initiative
The petition gathering effort, currently underway, promotes the 1.35% Property Tax Cap Amendment. This amendment would cap all property taxes at 1.35% of taxable value while preserving the Save Our Homes benefit and all additional homestead exemptions.

Local Governments Wrong to Oppose Tax Relief
“We urge Speaker Rubio, President Pruitt, and Governor Crist to include this in the call for the special session so that any legal concerns about the amendment’s language can be repaired."

Leaders Endorse the January 29th Amendment - Talk with House Speaker about More Tax Cuts
Also, attending the session was Governor Charlie Crist who briefly stopped in and strongly endorsed the amendment and applauded the groups for coming together in search of additional reform.

Cities Wage War on Tax Cuts for Floridians
The Florida League of Cities today voiced strong opposition to meaningful property tax relief for Floridians. The organization, funded by tax dollars, opposes efforts by the Florida Legislature to pass comprehensive property tax relief that may impact their local budgets.

Floridians Launch Statewide Effort to Cut Property Taxes
Several prominent Floridians today launched “Floridians for Property Tax Reform” to advocate for comprehensive, meaningful and equitable property tax relief that can be put before voters this year. Jose Cancela of Miami, a principal in Hispanic USA and Co-Chairman of the Advisory Council for the group, announced the organization in Tallahassee with tax reform advocates from around the state.
