OVER 500 VOLUNTEERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN ELECTION
DAY PUSH FOR PROPERTY TAX CUT PHASE 2
Volunteers will collect petitions for the 1.35% Property Tax Cap
Amendment
Tallahassee – In this final weekend prior to the January
29th Election Day, FPTR has assembled over 500 volunteers statewide who will be standing in front of key
precincts urging voters to sign petitions in support of the 1.35% Initiative. Volunteers will be working in 31 counties
to add as many petitions as possible to the more than 100,000 that have been collected in the last 10 weeks.
“Whether Amendment 1 passes or not, Florida’s families and small businesses will still
need a path for more property tax cuts,” said FPTR Co-Chair Jose Cancela. “This volunteer effort is a clear sign that
Floridians understand that and are prepared to do everything that they can to pass more tax reform.”
The 1.35% Initiative (www.135petition.com)
is an effort to pass the largest property tax cut in the history of Florida. It is a flat property tax that would ensure
that no residential or commercial property owner is every taxed more than 1.35% of the property’s total market value and
would keep the Save Our Homes exemption in place.
