PUSH FOR PROPERTY TAX RELIEF WILL CONTINUE
Volunteers collected thousands of petitions for the 1.35% Initiative

Statement by Advisory Board Co-Chair Jose Cancela:

“Today’s vote was a tremendous victory for the proponents of property tax reform. However, the effort to re-vitalize Florida’s economy and to provide deeper and more meaningful tax cuts must continue. Today at voting precincts throughout the state, over 500 volunteers collected nearly 40,000 petitions in the effort to put the 1.35% Property Tax Cap Amendment on the ballot.

“By voting resoundingly yes for Amendment 1 today, the voters have shown their strong desire for relief. It is now clear more than ever that we must continue the fight. It is our hope that the more than 100,000 petitions collected in just 10 short weeks will be more than necessary to convince the political leaders of Florida that comprehensive reform is needed immediately.”
